Author Comments

The author writes:

After reading the entire line of professionally published novels, I sat down and, for my own entertainment, began to write a ST story. The thing accidentally grew into a novel. Nine months after submission, Simon and Schuster turned it down — a common story, I'm sure. I debated between filing the novel in the closet and finding it a home. Not prone to give up easily, I found it a publisher through the Star Trek Welcommittee Editors and Contributors Exchange. First choice is, of course, getting Simon and Schuster to accept a manuscript and pay money, but I found the experience of fanzine publication to be very satisfying... My novel is now out of print, but those of you who have similar publications available should be encouraged to let the rest of us Propagator readers know. I'm sure most of the gentle sentients out there would be kind to any first or amateur efforts. We only pick on what Simon & Schuster have proclaimed as the best, the ones worth their print setters. In truth, I enjoyed some of those non-accepted novels as much or more than the ones with the pretty professional covers." [1]
