From the publisher: "Emily Arkwright has returned to England, leaving Illya Kuryakin behind in New York. She may be out of his life, but he can't seem to get her out of his mind. When Napoleon Solo is sent to England on assignment, he confronts Emily, making her promise to at least talk to Illya. one meeting is all it takes, and they are again an "item" on U.N.C.L.E.'s grapevine. Thrush is artifically inflating gold prices, causing much unrest in South Africa. Napoleon is sent to investigate, and is captured. Illya, working on another assignment--Thrush is experimenting on a killer virus--is also captured, and both agents meet up again with Carla, Paolo Alberti's former secretary/lover. She hasn't forgotten them, and is quite anxious to settle some old scores."
