To the Victor is a Blake/Avon Blake's 7 story by Amethyst Lane.

It was originally printed in the zine Fire and Ice #6.

Reactions and Reviews

It's apparently some years PGP, and Avon has just defeated Blake in the post-Federation government's presidential election. Blake makes his concession, and, while it might be oral, it ain't exactly a speech... I must admit, "President Avon" has a certain ring to it, but overall this one didn't do a whole lot for me, as I didn't find either the sex or the politics all that believable. But then, I often find that I'm not terribly keen on after-the-revolution Blake-as-politician stories.[1]

Ah. So, this fic. Well - in principle, I like the idea of Avon overthrowing Blake as president (there's a very similar fic later on in this zine, which I have the same 'I want to like, but-' response to). But the characterisation is really hateful for both of them, I don't like the writing style in general, and Avon's victory is too easy. I don't know if I hate the ending as I hated the beginning too much to get that far.[2]
