Reactions and Reviews
This sequel to the episode "Yesterday's Enterprise," explores Tasha's captivity with the Romulans, in a second lifetime, more than twenty years *before* her death. Most captives are sent to work camps, but when an influential Romulan takes an interest in her, he offers her sanction from the camps, and eventually execution, if she agrees to become his wife and bear his child. The author does a beautiful job portraying the Romulan culture and building reader sympathy for Yar. Kader offers believable insights into how Romulan family matters are conducted, and although the government is conniving and vengeful, the average citizen is not so unlike humans. Slowly, Yar adapts for survival, while she desperately longs for a means of escape. Anyone who is a fan of Tasha Yar would be pleased by the quantity and quality of Yar angst contained in this piece.
