Theory of Evolution is a John/Rodney Stargate Atlantis story by lavvyan.

It was written for the 2007 Big Bang and the prompt was: Forks in the Road: Conversion - John survives, but doesn't revert back to human.

Summary: Stuck with a body he can't accept as his own, John withdraws - and Rodney lets him, certain that all John needs is time. But what if he's wrong?

Reactions and Reviews

Post Iratus-bug transformation (sorry, I'm completely incompetent when it comes to episode titles), John *doesn't* change back to a human. Physically, at least. His mind is fine, however, and Rodney (with whom John has been having a long-standing, casual affair) announces he doesn't care about John's appearance. John, on the other hand... Everyone's well-done in this fic, but I particularly like John's development as he learns that his looks might not be all he have to offer, and that there really are people out there who can look beyond the physical. Plus, you know, all kinds of romantic angst between Rodney and (a very bull-headed) John. An intriguing look into what it might feel like to go from being everyone's favorite boy to being an outsider and a freak. [1]

Lavvyan is a wonderful writer, though some of hers are pretty dark, so watch out. This was cool and kinda mindblowing and, did I mention the hotness? Incredibly hot, even though John is kind of a stubborn asshole at times. I wanted to smack him a little. And not in the fun way![2]

Bug!John just never gets old, and this is a long, angsty exploration of the way staying a bug makes him change.[3]
