The Wolves of Mercy Falls also known as The Shiver Trilogy is a romance, fantasy and young adult werewolf four book series -- the trilogy and a standalone title published in 2014 -- by Maggie Stiefvater.

Shiver had been considered for film adaptation, but although creative differences meant the project was not continued.

Film adaptation

On her website back in July 2011,[1] Maggie answered questions from fans about possible film adaptations of the book.

Who would you cast as Sam and Grace in a movie? Will there be a Shiver movie?

I’m always changing my mind, but my current choices are here. I get asked a lot if I will make Shiver into a movie, but the truth is, I don’t have much say in it. The film rights have been acquired by Unique Features (with Warner Brothers getting first look at it) and it has a bunch more hoops to jump through until a movie is certain.

After the possible adaptation has been canceled, Maggie Stiefvater affirmed was has not completely disregarded the option to adapt the novel, but has stated that it shall not be occurring in the near future.

Believing that the film industry would limit her power over the production of Shiver's movie counterpart, she has also stated that she would prefer for there to be no movie made.[1]

The novels largely follow the relationship of Grace Brisbane and Samuel K. “Sam” Roth, as tensions between humans and wolves/werewolves rise throughout the small town of Mercy Falls, in the wake of the attack of a school boy.
