The Road to Dawn is a zine centered around Riku, the deuteragonist from Kingdom Hearts. The zine is a first of the zines published by khrikuzine.

About

The zine was first announced on December 4, 2018, on both Twitter and Tumblr.

Applications for artist and writers opened on January 3, 2019. Applications closed on February 10, 2019, with a record of 3over 300 artist applications and over 40 writer applications. Emergency applications for artist spots ran from April 24 to May 10, 2019, to fill in for 2 or 3 artist spots.

Preorders opened on May 21, 2019, with the following pricing tiers:

• Digital Zine ($10 USD) - Digital Zine, Icons
• Way to the Dawn ($25 USD) - Physical Zine
• Nightmares End ($30 USD) - Physical Zine, Double Sided Charm, Sticker Sheet
• Braveheart ($45 USD, Inital limit to 80) - Physical Zine, Charm, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Standee

The Braveheart bundle sold out within two days of the store opening. The bundle was restocked again on May 27th. Preorders for physical items closed on June 22, 2019, but digital zines could still be purchased for two more weeks afterwards.

Shipping began approximately after August 3, 2019, according to a shipping update. All physical orders were shipped by August 22, 2019.

Leftover sales for extra copies and discounted damaged items opened on August 29, 2019, and ran until supplies ran out. A giveaway for a Braveheart bundle was run from August 29 to September 1, 2019.

The team who organized The Road to Dawn went on to create a second installment of Riku-centric zines, The Things That Matter.
