The Pokemon Fan Fiction Archives was a fairly popular website in the early days of Pokémon anime fandom.
Content
The site had several different categories, most notably for gen fic, Pokéshipping, and RocketShipping. Despite the amount of gen fic and other non-romantic categories, the site became known for its Ash/Misty content; the section was the second largest one. The site could be considered the birthplace of many tried and true Ash/Misty fanfic cliches.
Surprisingly, the Rocketshipping section was the smallest despite the pairing's popularity. This is likely because Rocketshipping shrines already had enough fanfic on their own, and much of the PFFA staff shipped Ash/Misty most of all.
While there was no stated rule against lemons, the site did not host any, most likely due to the young ages of the contributors and the site owners themselves. Any stories warranting warnings or ratings did so due to violence or character death.
The site used to feature a message board until it was shut down in 2000 due to technical difficulties.
Hosting
The site was hosted on 8m.com until the mid-2000s, when it was moved to Bulbagarden. In 2009, the site shut down for good, possibly due to fading fan interest in websites and fandom-specific fic archives.
Legacy
Many older Pokemon anime fans will remember the site as a haven for all the clichéd stories one could want, from the romances to the Original Trainer plots to the episode novelizations. Sadly, not much is known about the site's staff or authors, or what became of most of them. It is assumed that many of them moved to Bulbagarden when the site did, but the archive itself has somewhat faded into obscurity.
