The Pits is a Starsky & Hutch mailing list on yahoo groups. It began in 1999, remained active until 2008 and finally went offline in 2011. The mailing list prided itself on being a "neutral" forum where both gen and slash fans could mingle, discuss the show and share stories. The mailing list also had a sister mailing list and website The Pits Archive that sought to archive stories posted to the mailing list by its members. Both the ThePitsFiction mailing list and the archive went offline in 2007. The Pits mailing list disappeared sometime in 2011.

Membership was restricted and new members had to be personally recommended by either a list member or moderator.

In 2010, the list had 402 members.

There are 41,444 messages on this mailing list.

Welcome to THE PITS!

This is the original GEN and SLASH friendly site created for the discussion of the 1975-79 series “Starsky & Hutch”.

We have a great group here and learning from our fellow list members can be fun whether we’re discussing episodes or writing techniques!

Novice writer? Feel free to post any and all questions -- Gen or Slash. Feedback on fiction is welcome, on a volunteer basis only.

"Starsky & Hutch” was always about friendship and mutual respect. That’s all we ask from our members. We all see things differently and at times things can get a bit heated as our differences are debated. Please try to keep in mind that someone disagreeing with you is not a flame. We strive very hard to make this a friendly and enjoyable escape for both gen and slash fans. Both genre have long been an important part of this nearly three decade old fandom.

WARNING! [Slash topics may at times be a little graphic.] Troublemakers will be either moderated or removed at our discretion. To familiarize yourself with our guidelines, please read our FAQ, which is delivered on subscription and monthly thereafter.
