The 'men in black' have kidnapped Jim; with the help of the spirit guides Blair discovers where he is and rescues him, but he's in a pretty bad way. There are so many stories with Jim helping/rescuing Blair. This is a kind of role reversal story that hits all my buttons, with a vulnerable Jim and a strong Blair. There are several flashback scenes, with a change of writing style that makes them stand out; and the flashbacks are in no danger of taking over the story being told, which sometimes can happen - they complement it very well. This is one of my top favourite stories, one I never tire of rereading.[1]
