The Outsiders is a YA coming-of-age novel by S. E. Hinton. The book follows two rival groups, the Greasers and the Socs, who are divided by their socioeconomic status. The film by Coppola starred Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and others famous actors -- featuring guest appearances by author S. E. Hinton.
