The Magnificent Seven is a 2016 western/action film and remake of the 1960 film of the same name (later adapted into a 1998 TV series). Antoine Fuqua's remake follows the story of the original movie - seven gunfighters are recruited to protect the town of Rose Creek against mining baron Bartholomew Bogue - but with a significantly more diverse cast. Warrant Officer Sam Chisolm (Denzel Washington) recruits gambler Joshua Faraday (Chris Pratt), ex-Confederate sharpshooter Goodnight Robicheaux (Ethan Hawke), knife-fighting assassin Billy Rocks (Lee Byung-Hun), outlaw Vasquez (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), mountain man Jack Horne (Vincent D'Onofrio) and Native American Red Harvest (Martin Sensmeier) to fight off Bogue's army of Blackstones.

The Magnificent Seven Fandom

Immediately after its release in cinemas The Magnificent Seven attracted a small but close-knit and supportive fandom based primarily on Tumblr, though significant content was also produced by largely non-English-speaking fanartists and cosplayers on Twitter, mirroring the historical cultural split between western Media Fandom and eastern Anime Fandom.
