Mana, or Seiken Densetsu, is an extensive RPG video game series that originated within the Final Fantasy universe before taking on a life of its own. The fandom, while small, has deep ties to the soulbonding community, with many formative soulbonders being Children of Mana fans and hosting fic alongside soulbonding information.

1999 Fan Translation of Trials of Mana
Neill Corlett, SoM2Freak, Lina`chan, and Nuku-nuku created a fan translation of Trials of Mana, also called Seiken Densetsu 3, in 1999.[1] Neill Corlett handled the ROM hacking, while SoM2Freak handled translation of game terms and a small amount of the script. After SOM2Freak's departure from the project, Lina`chan contacted Neill Corlett and together with Nuku-nuku finished the translation work.[2] Between Trials of Mana's publication in the Japanese market in 1995 and its official localization in 2019, there was no official English-language release: English-speaking fans fell in love with the series by playing this fan translation.
