The Laurentian Letters" has the subtitle: "Conference Proceedings of Convention Alley, Ottawa, Ontario. It is a 223-page collection of Harry Potter essays and articles.

It was printed as a comb bound letter size zine with a clear plastic cover. The cover art and interior title page design was by R.J. Anderson.

It was edited by Stephanie Dutchen, Amanda Lowanski, Phyllis Morris and Diana Patterson.

Introduction

This work is a compilation of the conference proceedings of Convention Alley, Canada's first Harry Potter literary conference for grown-up fans of the series. The conference was held at the University of Ottawa from July 30- August 1, 2004.

This work is not a spin-off, companion volume, sequel or prequel to the Harry Potter series. Convention Alley was an unofficial event and neither the event nor these proceedings have been endorsed or sanctioned by Warner Bros., the Harry Potter book publishers or J.K. Rowling and her representatives....

The theories and opinions in the papers contained herein are the responsibility of the authors and not the Laurentian Normal School of Consolidated Magicks or any of its non-magical points of contact. No part of any paper may be reproduced in any form without the permission of the author....

The cover art depicts the fictional Laurentian Normal School of Consolidated Magicks. By special permission of the Canadian Magical Authority, non-magical people were invited by the Laurentian Normal School of Consolidated Magicks to attend a three-day literary conference within the premises of Convention Alley (known in the non-magical world as the University of Ottawa).
