The Last Ship is a fanfiction archive focused on Lord of the Rings fanfiction and fanfiction about other Tolkien works. It also hosts fanfic from a few other fandoms such as The Faculty, Stargate Atlantis, and Doctor Who. The Last Ship site consisted of a fanfiction archive, powered by eFiction, and a wiki, powered by MediaWiki.
The welcome message on the site (as of August 2010) describes The Last Ship as follows: "While this fiction archive is LOTR-centric, if you've written even one LOTR story (FP or RP), all your stories are welcome here, regardless of fandom, genre or rating." The terms of service forbid fanfiction by Anne Rice and Laurel K. Hamilton, requires accurate labeling of stories (especially those containing underage sexual content), and behavior that is "abusive, threatening, harassing, stalkerish or defamatory—trollish, in other words."[2]
As of 23 May 2010, The Last Ship hosted 2,502 stories by 104 authors.[3]
