The Last Of The Real Ones is a popular anime music video in the Boku no Hero Academia fandom. As of April 2024, it has over 16 million views on YouTube.
Description
The anime music video focuses on Yagi Toshinori and Midoriya Izuku and their relationship as holders of One for All. At different points Toshinori and Izuku are positioned as the "last of the real ones" the song is about. As the video goes on Izuku gradually moves from primarily being portrayed as a stand-in for the singer who is admiring the "last of the real ones" from afar to a more ambiguous figure sharing the role of admirer and "real one" with Toshinori. Toshinori himself makes the same transition in reverse shifting from the distant unattainable "real one" to someone who also admires Izuku and his efforts. The video ends with them together, as mentor and mentee.
Fan Reactions
Feels like the lyrics were written while keeping deku and allmight in mind... that's the level of perfection you brought in making this video. Lots of love.
The first 5 times I watched this I only thought about Deku looking up to All Might, but from the second verse on... it feels like All Might sees Deku as one of the Last of The Real Heroes and part of this is from his perspective - and now I'm emotional.
