In this, Linda’s final full-length novella, the story of
Vincent and Catherine has been set in Medieval times,
and their love has become a romantic legend.

For years the people of Lionmeade have been told stones about King Jacob’s
deformed and monstrous son, and many believed the creature lived
in the castle's dungeon or roamed the surrounding forests.

Lady Catherine never bothered with old wives' tales — until that fateful night
on an empty country road she was attacked by marauders
and left for dead... and what followed
changed her life forever.

Reactions and Reviews

In another rendition of the familiar storyline of Vincent and Catherine in fancifully rendered medieval times, Mooney has Lady Catherine attacked and raped as she returns alone to the manor after good-deeding among the peasantry. She's taken in by a community of apparent outlaws, including the secretive and shadowed "Adam." Returned to the manor after healing from her ordeal, she finds that her suitors, particularly Sir Elliot, astonishingly still want to marry her despite her deflowering. Then, abruptly, her father dies, leaving her the ward of King Jacob whose deformed son is the subject of horrified legend, and to whom he arbitrarily betroths the orphaned and unwilling Lady Catherine. Then, guess what! Oh — you already know. Though largely predictable, this tale is well written and carried off with an air. [1]
