Founded in 1986, The Guardians of Gallifrey are a Doctor Who fanclub, based in Central Florida. As of 2020, it is among the ten longest running Doctor Who fan clubs remaining in North America.
Activities
It publishes the monthly fanzine, the Gallifrey Guardian, and have also has released ten years of the Guardians of Gallifrey Yearbook.
They publish a monthly club newsletter, The Gallifrey Guardian and the holiday fiction fanzine WHOliday Stories, and have also has released ten years of the Guardians of Gallifrey Yearbook. In 2020, during the Covid-19 outbreak, the club began publication of the weekly gen fiction fanzine, Tales from the Matrix, which they have made freely available for distribution. Two other fan clubs, The Prydonians of Prynceton and the Doctor Who Club of Australia joined the Guardians of Gallifrey in distributing the zine to all of their members.
They currently hold monthly meetings and organize two annual parties (their anniversary in June and their WHOliday party in December.
The club has also produced and released a cookbook, and a fan film.
