The Greatest Show Since Earth was a for-profit Star Trek: TOS con presented by Morgan Powell.

Powell was one of the organizers of the controversial Star Trek Chicago cons.

A travelling Star Trek convention called "The Greatest Show Since Earth" has folded. It was organized by Ms. Morgan Powell -- at one time an associate of the infamous Lisa Boynton. Held on the June 19 [1976] weekend in Shicago [sic], it drew only 1,000 people -- far short of the 10,000 a day that was expected. (part of the reason may have been the $20 admission.) The convention was cancelled Saturday evening. Dealers table sold for $500 to $600 each, "to get the amateurs out." Only 10 tables were sold, instead of the expected 100's.

Perhaps this spells the beginning of the end for the profit-oriented professional conventions. [1]
