The Greatest American Hero was a Yahoo group that had moderated membership and posting, with 602 members at its close. The group was unusual in that its first five years had little activity, but then picked up in 2004, reaching a peak of 325 messages a month in 2005. The group began dying out in 2009 with scattered participation through 2014 at which point membership required approval due to spam.
Some of the final messages in the group related to discussions about a reboot of the series which members seemed to dread given the people connected to it.
Description
A group dedicated to the classic TV show "The Greatest American Hero", starring William Katt, Robert Culp, and Connie Sellecca, and conceived by Stephen J. Cannell. Airing on ABC from 1981 to 1983, TGAH had a mere three-season run - all too short for fans, but long enough to form a nice body of episodes, still in syndication to this day. This show had it all - comedy, drama, action, adventure, and of course, sci-fi. It took the superhero genre and humanized it, focusing on how suddenly having such powers would screw up a person's life. This focus, as well as concentrating more on character depth and development and less on bad-guy plot, made for what fans believe to be the best concept Cannell ever developed, unlike any show that exists or has ever existed.
The excellent character performances, great theme music, cool suit, and lots of heart, have won many fans who to this day wish for a return of The Greatest American Hero. Maybe we can make that happen in a way that does justice to the original concept as protrayed so wonderfully by the original cast. So stay tuned, and participate. Check out our Links, Files, and Photos sections, and don't forget to read and post messages. Make this an active, interesting community. Share your love for the show!

Due to lackluster attendance at the last two
scheduled chats, the webmasters of this site are
considering removing the GAH club from Yahoo and
discontinuing the GAH chatroom.
We understand that many
of you cannot chat on Fridays (the only day that
GreenGuy is available), but on of the afore-mentioned
chats fell on a Wednesday, and that chat had less
people show up than last Friday's!
The upcoming
chat on Friday, April 21st will be an official chat,
during which chatters will be counted, and input from
chatters will be accepted. Depending on attendance and
opinions from chatters, we will make a decision on whether
to continue this feature.
Remember two
things:
1.) We are in the process of contacting the actors,
writers, etc. of the original GAH series on their current
projects, and hope to get some official live chats with one
or more of these people. If we have no chatroom,
then no one will be able to ask questions.
2.) The
Yahoo club registration is free! This isn't some scam
to get your address for mailing lists; the
registration protects the chatroom from flamers and other
nuisances.
Come to the chat on April 21st and VOTE! As we have
said before, even if you come in for five seconds,
just to say, "Please don't take my chat away!" We know
that GAH fans are a bunch of party animals with no
time on Fridays (except for GreenGuy and Max, of
course :-) Hey, we asked what day you wanted the chat;
if you want to request a specific day for chatting
every month or so, let us know by responding to this
message!

I've been posting on Greenguy, Max, and MyTatuo's main site just a couple months after it went online, and I remember reading posts when the old Sci-Fi Board was up for GAH. I really have no explantion for why I never joined this club. I hope we never lost our chat privelges cause I feel bad that I never voted or showed up when you guys had your chats.

This is a SPECIAL NOTICE to inform everyone that a rare treat is coming, courtesy of the Official Michael Pare online fan club.
Apparently, Michael and the cast members of The Greatest American Hero got together for a reunion last month! I spoke with someone from the site, and they tell me that he is trying to obtain pictures from the event! When they are posted, I will let you know, and will try to obtain permission to repost some of them on this group.
So if you haven't already seen some of the 'what they're doing now' photos in the group's Photos section, you'll definitely get a chance to see how our favorite gang looks once these pictures are up.
I also consider this a very good sign, they're getting together for a reunion, I mean. It means they keep in touch, and this may (doing a little dreaming here) lay the groundwork for any hope of a future reunion movie featuring the old cast. Not that anyone has ever mentioned that that would be a realistic possibility, but it's fun to hope. :)

My favorite memory of this show is sitting down in front of the TV with my soft cuddly blanket as a cape and just getting lost in the stories each and every week... Do any of you have anything you like about the show... A favorite power or something about the suit that you like... Well I am going to tell you mine to get the ball rolling...
I remember Bill always being there for Ralph and when Hinkley almost quits using the suit after a bus nearly goes over a cliff.. Bill gives him some no BS advice on why he just can't quit... Bill almost bails on Ralph and Ralph said that they were the package and that when something foes wrong they fix it! I tell you that Maxwell and Hinkley were the greatest duo since the Green Hornet and Kato.. Even as good as Batman and the Boy Wonder too!
I have loved the show too for the flying when he quit the screaming stuff.. It was great to just see him high in the sky! Remember when he had to save Bill from that Mad Doctor Strigel? When he realized that Maxwell was alive, he never waisted a moment to fly off to save him! That episode had some of the best flying shots on there...
The suit was really cool! I loved the cape! I thought that it looked really good when he flew straight... I think it made him look really heroic... I just wish that the shots were he flew away from the camera were done better... It seemed that the cape didn't move at all!
I would like to see more flying pics on the site as well as some pics of Ralph with his cape flapping around... Some pics like that would make a great wallpaper for the computer too... Even some fan art would be nice as well... If I had a scanner I would even submit some work of my own...
I wish that there was a Ralph action figure that we all could have to play with... Too bad the figures and ones people try to make go for so much money... I hope to hear some of your favorite memories...
Oh... I have a homemade suit of my own and it won a prize at the Halloween party last year! It was windy too but the party was INSIDE! I would loved to have the chance to feel the wind through my cape! Oh well a lot of people tugged it and praised my suit and my little Ralph statue!
