An appreciation of this Christmas story requires acceptance of some near-fraternal intimacy at an early stage in the partnership that seems to work against the point of the story itself, but a few lovely flashes of insight and a fascinating innocent make it a worthwhile read. This would have made an absolutely wonderful series episode—the one they should have made instead of "Jingle Bells." Need I say more? [1]
