The Brigand is a 38-page Kirk/Spock story by K.S. T'lan.

It was first published in the anthology Duet #10 in 1985.

It was later published as a standalone novel by the author, or as a fan's custom zine. Because of this, it retains the original pagination of the anthology, as well as the poem, "The Secret Garden" by Robin Hood.

Summary: "A/U Admiral Kirk is sent to Vulcan to aid in the negotiations for its Federation membership, but is kidnapped by a pre-reform band whose leader turns out to be the son of the Vulcan ambassador, Sarek."
