The Backup Detectives is an AU which focuses mainly on four characters: Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy Goof and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It started out as an idea for a movie, but evolved into a fancomic, published on a dedicated Tumblr blog. In it, the four main characters work at a detective agency, and are called upon when the 'real' detectives believe a case will be pointless.
It is set between 1940-1950 although the creator originally stated it took place somewhere from the 1930s to the 1960s.
Other characters included in the verse, fanon or otherwise, are: Pluto, Mortimer Mouse, Gladstone Gander, Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck, Clarabelle Cow, The Beagle Boys, Peg Leg Pete, Huey Duck, Louie Duck, Dewey Duck, Della Duck, Julius the Cat, Ortensia Whiskers, Felicity Duck, Gus Goose and Cliff the Cabby.
