Reactions and Reviews
A gem of a story about an elderly Bodie and Doyle whose handling of a hold-up in a rural post office has a significant effect on the narrator's life. A third-party viewpoint story, it gives us a brief but crucial glimpse of Bodie and Doyle from an OC, a young wife and mother who changes her life directly because of her observations of an elderly B/D, not only in their handling of the crisis, but in their personal interaction, muted as it is in public. This is a gorgeous, very short story, masterful in its control of every element and written with Georgina Kirrin's lovely style. The story has nothing to do with the episode of the same title; it simply uses the meaning of the common phrase for its own apt purpose.[1]
