Talk:Legolas (The Lord of the Rings)

In the infobox Legolas is given the title/rank "prince". In English, is any son of a king automatically called a prince? I remember heated discussions in the German LotR fandom whether or not Legolas is a prince, since he is never called that in the books, and I thought it was fanon. --Tiyire 11:36, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes, I've seen heated discussions on the topic in UK fandom, too. The legitimate son of a king would be called a prince in the UK, but that's not to say it's true for Elves, and I've seen the lack of title in the books used as evidence that Legolas isn't legitimate too. I tried to make it clearer and added a fanon note in the infobox. --Tiyire 22:12, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
