It's been a while since I watched Criminal Minds, so going to start a link drop here that might be helpful to expand this either to return to or for someone else who is more in the fandom to use. In addition to some shipping fuel/people saying why they ship them, it seems there's been something around the continuation series and comments the cast have made, not understanding or knowing that the fandom will take it in a certain way as well?:
