This was described by an ebay seller as Star Trek but I don't see the connection. Anyone? Mrs. Potato Head 02:18, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- I tried looking up info on the convention Intercon, but the one that I found was an Intercon J in the Boston area (held in 2010 [1]) and is for LARPing. Apparently these are lettered, i.e. I found links to previous ones such as Intercon H in 2008 though there also was an Intercon Mid-Atlantic in 2007, but the others still have sites, i.e. Intercon A, B, etc. also linked in an overview list here, also there is a wikipedia page here. But I am dubious that this is the same Intercon. OTOH considering that the list of LARP Intercons starts with number XIII, then goes on to XIV, XV and then A-J, there might have been an Intercon XII somewhere else prior to 1998? And maybe that was not LARP. However the LARPAWEB wiki list a lot of predecessors, some under other names (they also seemed to have half-numbers for some conventions held in October so there are actually Intercon 9.5 and such). There are history pages on Intercon here and the LARPA pages also say that Intercon is actually a trademark belonging to them that they license to local groups, so that would be a case in point that all Intercons are about LARPing. Do you know the year of this zine? From 1992 onward it would have been surely LARPing, from 1986 to 1991 the LARPing con was called Silicon, so if it was from then or before it might be some other thing, maybe back then the name wasn't trademarked.--RatCreature 09:12, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- That's a lot of research, Detective Ratcreature. This is the link for the zine on ebay [2]. He doesn't give a any more info other than it's from "the 70s." Mrs. Potato Head 11:06, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Well, 1970s precedes all the LARPing cons with that name I've found. Maybe there was ST con by that name then? IDK.--RatCreature 11:45, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Also unrelated I found that there was an Intercon 2001 in Oslo Norway (2-5 August 2001). Unfortunately I don't speak Norwegian but this page seems to say that it was about SF Literature and held together with Shadowcon 6?--RatCreature 13:12, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm leaning towards the idea this con was a multi-fandom/science fiction con, rather than a ST one. I mean, why have that image on the front if it's Trek? I'll make a note of it on the page. Mrs. Potato Head 13:51, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah. Until more is known being less specific is probably safer.--RatCreature 14:00, 1 January 2010 (UTC)
