Talk:Dimension 8

I'm not at all certain that this zine was ever published, but if it was, it was NOT published in 1969 or before as indicated here. DECK 6 issue #6 (March 1970) includes this notice:

Ellie Ockert (207 Irving Ave/Brooklyn NY 11237) is doing a one-shot tribute to STAR TREK (with additional entries concerning David Janssen, UFOs, and possibly THE INVADERS). The editress of DIMENSION 8 would very much appreciate contributions of artwork, stories, and especially poetry. (Ellie says she’ll also need help with the typing.)

The previous issue, #5, was dated Feb. 1970 (and did not include that notice), so Ellie sent it to me sometime in either February or March, 1970. Since she specifies that it's to be a one-shot, this is THE Dimension 8, not a different issue, and in early 1970 it's not yet ready to be published.

Then there's this ad in issue #9 (August 1970):

StarTrekish stories and art in a one-shot called DIMENSION 8. For info, contact Ellie Ockert, 207 Irving Ave., Brooklyn, New York 11237. Art wanted – black ink preferred, but ALL welcome.

Issue #8 had been published in May, so she sent me that sometime between May and August, 1970. My interpretation is that she already had enough stories but still needed artwork -- so the zine was apparently still not for sale.

If the publication date of "1969 or before" is based on its inclusion in the Strekzine Roster, please note that it's listed there as "queried without response," so Jacqueline may have simply been attempting to track down a rumor. And the Pentathlon List isn't even sure whether Dimension 8 is a zine or a story in another zine.

So DIMENSION 8 may or may not have ever been published, but if it was, it was after May 1970.
