The term taboo is used to classify something as being against what an average person might find moral. It is not necessarily immoral, but not really accepted in society either. In some circles, something being taboo may just mean lacking etiquette.

An exampled of something considered taboo, though it is often scaled up to immoral, is incest. It may be considered taboo for a character to find another partner soon after their late spouse's death.

Taboo themes often have a place within Darkfic, dark and twisted as it may be.
