TFWiki is a Transformers wiki covering every aspect of Transformers canon, from movies to cartoons to comics to toys.
A notable aspect of the wiki is its use of humor in image captions and, in some cases, the articles themselves. For instance, the article for Wheelie is written almost entirely in rhyme, reflecting the character's speech patterns.
As of February 2014, the wiki had over twenty thousand articles; by April 2024, that number had grown to exceed thirty thousand.
History
A fan named Nova81426 founded the Transformers wiki, then called Teletraan I, on the Wikicities wiki farm in 2005. In 2006, David Willis, a longtime Transformers fan, discovered the wiki and decided to turn it into a solid fandom resource for Transformers fans. According to the fan who runs the tfwiki Tumblr account,
[Willis] chose to make it a little humorous, and the first few editors who joined him in working on the site - being from a similar era of fandom as him, and sharing a similar sense of humor from being in the same fandom circle - rolled with it.[1]
The humorous tone was originally contentious, with some editors strongly opposing the change, but over time, it became the accepted standard on the wiki.[1]

After Wikicities became Wikia, it began imposing unwanted changes on the wiki, including obtrusive, auto-playing ads that took up a great deal of screen real estate. In September 2008, the Transformers wiki community took a copy of their content and re-established the wiki as an independently-hosted site under the name TFWiki.net.
Disaster struck in March of 2009 when the wiki's database became corrupted as a result of actions by the then current host, resulting in the database being rolled back almost a year. The community rallied and managed to salvage most of their work from Google's caching system. In May the same year, the wiki moved to a new host, and in a few months, the problems resulting from the corruption were largely resolved.
Scope
TFWiki aims to cover every aspect of Transformers canon, including all characters that have appeared in Transformers-branded stories and all products ever sold under the Transformers name. In general, it is fairly successful in this endeavor. It generally avoids covering the fandom itself, although it does have some pages on the history of the fandom prior to about 2000, and it has plenty of pages on former fans that now work in some official capacity for Hasbro.
Impact
TFWiki has become a widely recognized authority on Transformers canon, to the point where it has been quoted in official material.[2] Representatives are invited to events where Hasbro showcases upcoming toys.
