Sweeps Clean is a Sentinel story by Rebel.
It is an alternative ending to The New Broom by Bluewolf.

This story starts at the end of one by another author. The original story ended fairly unsatisfactorily with a shoot-out between the police and a gang of bank robbers; Rebel picks up the story at this point, and it deals with the aftermath of the situation - basically, an Enquiry into the actions of an incompetent police captain. It isn't in any way necessary to read the original story first; Sweeps Clean (which was written with the agreement of the author of the first story) stands entirely on its own. I like the way the story explores Blair-the-shaman. I like the understanding of the older professor. I like the way Rebel has handled William and Stephen. And I like the way that Rebel has, in a sense, brilliantly mirrored the ending of the original story, but with an entirely more satisfactory conclusion.[1]
