1b. - What is the Archive? The Archive is a hub of all things related to fanfiction for the cartoon series "Jonny Quest: The Real Adventures" (aka "The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest").
1c. - What is "fanfiction"? 1d. - How did the Archive get started? Well, I started watching JQ:TRA sporadically in Spring 1997. Up to that point, my main obsession was The X-Files (which I still watch faithfully!) and I was a rabid reader of all of the fanfic at the the Gossamer Archive - probably the best compilation of fanfic of any kind on the web. By mid-April 1997, I was sufficiently interested in JQ:TRA to seek out some web pages to see what I could find. I found my way to Winnie's Unofficial JQ:TRA Web Page. After checking out everything, I thought to myself, "Hey, this is pretty cool!". On her page was the information for joining the Questors - a mailing list for the fans of JQ:TRA. Throwing caution to the wind, on April 18, 1997, I joined the Questors mailing list and have been an active member ever since.
I was quickly welcomed into the fold, and one of the first things I looked for was JQ:TRA fanfiction. After asking around, I found that there were about 10 scattered pages that contained fanfic, but none of them were very comprehensive (more of a "personal favorites" sort of thing). Soooo...I asked around again to see if anyone would mind if I tried to collect all of this information into one central list. I was highly encouraged to go ahead and try it, although more than one person thought I was completely crazy to take on this task!
On April 25, 1997, one week after joining the Questors, I announced my intentions to gather all of the JQ:TRA fanfic that I could find into one list, and the Fanfic Index was born. At first, I merely collected the stories and published a list of available fics, but quickly the demand for a public Archive became undeniable. So, I took a couple of HTML classes, "borrowed" liberally from a number of other pages, and on July 10, 1997, Suze's Official JQ:TRA Fanfic Archive, the web site, debuted.
Since that time, the Archive has moved twice, the layout has changed several times, the filing system has been completely overhauled three times, and I've continued to add to and improve the content of this site as much as possible. There is still plenty of work to be done and improvements that I'd like to make, but I'm extremely pleased with the way things are going so far![2]
