Suikoden (幻想水滸伝 Gensō Suikoden) is a series of role-playing video games developed by Konami. Unlike some other popular Japanese RPG franchises, the five primary numbered games in the Suikoden series take place in a persistent gameworld, with each game taking place in a different region or time period. Callbacks to events of prior games and recurring characters are common, and world-building elements (such as the rune-based magic system) remain fairly consistent between games. The most recent games released have veered away from this formula, leaving some fans disappointed in the direction of the franchise.
Fandom
Currently, one of the more active corners of the fandom is the Suikoden Revival Movement, based on Facebook. As outlined on the page's "Goals" overview, the movement exists to push for a new, numbered game in the series (Suikoden 6), but also pursues smaller objectives geared at general advocacy of the series with Konami - keeping the company aware of fan interest in re-releases of older games and merchandise, particularly with seeing these materials released outside of Japan.
