In Disarray

The third issue of the newsletter suggests much club erraticism and tensions.

Fourscore and seven months ago... That's right, it's been some time since we've come into your humble abodes (and you shut the door on our faces), and since we can't take a hint, we're back, ta-da! Once again we've been chained into the cave and will not be released until we get this rag out. Any typographical errors can be blamed on the fact that Patrick O'Neal (heart-throb) is currently on TV now. Sigh! So now on with the hot stuff.

It has come to the attention of the Federation (the editors) that some members stop attending meetings because of the actions of others. The main complaint is that certain members act "strangely." We, because dear readers, we are included in that group, and have been around for some time now, and it's hard to change. As a matter of fact, we can't change. We are who we are. Yes, we care about the club; yes, we want the convention next July, but none of us can see what our happy-go-lucky ways can do to stop either of these. Star Trek has much to say, but one of the most important things is that people are different and that just because they are different doesn't mean they can't be useful. Too business-like an attitude would quickly drive us up the walls. If you don't like our ways, just ignore us as a small annoyance. We are sure all of us can co-exist if we are tolerant of each other.

As you may know, there was no meeting in August. Hope you didn't show up! If you did, it's because of a lack of communications between the hierarchy and the peons (the American WORKING class). We're sorry if you did show up - the FCC has no control over the situation, but we try harder (hertz, doesn't it?). And if you came to the September meeting - gotcha again! Again, lack of communication. One of these days they'll get it together. There was supposed to be an October meeting, but it was cancelled. Nobody should have shown up because nobody knew about the meeting.

  • Critic's Cage by The Federation (small editorial)
  • A Taste of Life or What I Feel by Kathy Drouillard (poem)
  • Red Alert (small news about the upcoming movie: the first script has been refused: "The FCC feels that we would rather not have a kiddie-orientated Star Trek movie. We feel that the movie subject should be adult (not X-rated, you perverts!). We feel that Trekfen are more mature than the media leads us to believe. People who belied in the FCC's causes should send their comments to Barry Diller [address omitted]. Also, Jimmy Doohan requests people to write Gene Roddenberry and request that his (Jimmy's) beard be kept.")
