The Spook Me Multi-Fandom Halloween Ficathon was founded in 2006 by ozsaur and dustandroses as a multi-fandom challenge fanfic fest.
All fandoms, genres, and pairings are accepted, including gen, het and slash, but fics must include one of the prompts provided by the mods.
Author sign-ups start in early September, with stories due by the last week of October. The ficathon is hosted on Livejournal and Dreamwidth, with an associated AO3 collection available for participants as well.
How It Works
Participants register for the ficathon in early September, choosing one creature from the prompt list. Participants may sign up for multiple fandoms and prompts. The Spook Me mods then send the participant two secret prompts ("artwork that is strange, surreal and hopefully scary"[1]) and the fic author must choose from those three total prompts.
There are no restrictions on length, pairings, or genre. Because it is a Halloween-centric ficathon, stories that are spooky, scary, and chilling are preferred, but any genre is welcome as long as the fic includes one of the prompts.
There are no consequences for not completing the ficathon, nor being unable to complete it on time.[1]
