Deceptively simple line drawings of Spock (front) and Kirk (back) that remind me, yet again, how talented Kathy is. I can always depend on her, whether it’s in her writing or in her art, to offer a different slant on K/S. Here she gives us a Spock we are not used to seeing. Clad in a T-shirt and jeans, he is strumming a guitar, and allowing his human side an opportunity to show itself. The long-haired Kirk on the back is dressed in a toga-like outfit and playing a Vulcan lyre. Of the two, I prefer the front cover of Spock the best, but I think that’s just my bias peeking through.
Taken together, these drawings made me think of
the yin-yang symbol. Neither man is wholly what he seems.

This is at the close of STTMP. McCoy thinks Kirk looks 10 years younger because he's in love. And boy, he did look good! I remember that, so my mind easily makes the connection.
Seeing their eyes lock as Spock crosses the Rec Room to join them, McCoy wonders if a bystander could be fried if they got caught in that hot gaze. Wow!
