The Southern Vampire Mysteries is a series of books written by Charlaine Harris. The first book in the series serves the basis for the HBO TV series True Blood (2008–2014), which differs from the book series.

Canon

The series is narrated in first person perspective by Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress and a telepath in the fictional town of Bon Temps in northwestern Louisiana set two years after vampires revealed themselves to the world.

Fandom

The SVM fandom was fairly large and most of its fans migrated to the True Blood fandom once the series was announced/aired. Thus many of the fannish communities such as online forums, LiveJournal communities, archives and fansites are mixed with True Blood.
