Reactions and Reviews
This is one of my favourites. It's sweet in the right places, but stops short of saccharine. The quality of writing is extremely high, and the plot is sound. A little human (android-- snicker) drama unfolds on the good ship Enterprise. No worlds or universes are at stake here, except the universe of one little girl. And that is how it should be, sometimes. This story, IMHO, really showcases what Star Trek is all about-- people, no matter which race/species/whatever. [1]
After Data gets his emotion chip, he really gets screwed up! This is a nice dark story for the normal Mr. Nice Guy android. Although he starts out somewhat like his typical self, you can tell something big's going to happen. And when he finds out what Maddox wants to do to Lore, he has a big decision to make! One of my fave parts was the big scene with Data and Lore together, when Data plugged his brain into Lore's. Zowee! [2]
This story concerns a girl whose parents get killed on an away team led by Data and how he has been named her guardian. Real good scene between Data and Troi in the hallway: Data's watching the child in school and starts accessing a bunch of memories.[3]
What a wonderful story. Data is named guardian of his friends' child, when they are killed, and he has to explore himself to determine what is the correct thing to do with her. Very touching. [4]
