Snaps or Snap is a background newsboy in Newsies. His names were given to him by fans, but Snaps is rumored to have been canonized at the 2014 anniversary.[1] He snaps his fingers in his sleep, which is the origin of his name.

The name Snaps may have come from fan kingracetrack.[2] The name Snap, singular, can be found online as early as 2001, where it is credited to fan Smiley.[3]
