Singin' in the Rain is a classic musical film starring Gene Kelly, Donald O'Connor and Debbie Reynolds. It is a Yuletide fandom and has a classic OT3.

Back in 1927, when talkies like The Jazz Singer arrived at the cinema, stars Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont found themselves at a crossroads, as Don can sing, dance and act, but Lina cannot. So now it's up to friends Don and Cosmo Brown with the help of Kathy Selden to save the film and the studio from bankruptcy, transforming a silent film into a musical, using dubbing strategies to do so.

Fandom

For the fans, Singin' in the Rain is celebrated on March 24th, due to that being the day that Cosmo, Kathy and Don sing the song "Good Morning",[1] and it is also on that day that Kathy kisses both boys on the mouth and when they decide to turn Don and Lina's failed film into a musical.

Their fandom is unusual in that the most popular ship is a triad between Cosmo, Don and Kathy. Fans argue about how the film was made to be a "straight romance" and inadvertently became a polyamorous classic.[2]

Singin’ in the Rain is even more fun when you pretend that Don and Cosmo are life partners inviting Kathy Seldon into a polycule[3]

At least one fan has noted[4] that the 1927 setting puts the characters in that brief window of time (1927-1933) after the introduction of talking pictures and before the introduction of the Hays Code.[5]
