Simon Potter's Furcadia Historical Society (or just Furcadia Historical Society, or Furcadian Historical Society) is an archive of over 170 public and private dreams (player made realms) from Furcadia starting in 2003. It also archives other Furcadia related webpages, however in a lesser amount. It is hosted on Angelfire by Simon Potter, and had previously been located on greydawn.net, a "free web space for Furcadia related topics."

Contributions and Membership

The large majority of dreams were contributed in its first month of opening, according to its news page, with another majority coming over the next two years. After 2005, contributions considerably slow. A news post in 2019 stated that the archive had been dead for 14 years before being revived again in 2019, as well as changing servers from greydawn.net. As of 2023 no new posts have been made.

Anyone can submit a dream to be archived by emailing Potter, whose email is on the front page. However, membership is difficult to achieve due to being largely lax.

The Furcadia Historical Society is not a guild and is not chartered. There are no regular meetings, nor officers nor jobs to be filled. Those who make dream contributions to the archives, public or private, are Friends of the Society. From time to time FHS invites Friends of the Society to become Society members. There is no particular advantage to becoming a member, except that members are kept apprised of Society news and activities as well as being notified when new dreams are placed in the archives.

Please do not ask to become a member. If you would like to make a dream contribution to the archives, zip the dream file along with a descriptive text file and your name and contact information and email it to simonbeekin at hotmail.com.

The Collection

Visitors can click "Dreams" at the top to visit the archive. Though the archive started in 2003 it contains dreams dating back to 1997, including some official maps, such as an early concept map for what would eventually become a welcome dream for new players. It also includes multiple maps for WorldCon 1999, and copies of dreams which one official dream contests run by Furcadia, such as the Wolf Howl Dream Contest winners from 2002-2004. The archive only has dreams between 1997-2005.
