Silver the Hedgehog is an anthropomorphic hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.

Since he comes from the future, it is often theorized that his ancestors (parents, grandparents or others depending of the person) might be characters from the present day, with Shadow the Hedgehog, Amy Rose and Sonic the Hedgehog being some of the more obvious choices since they are also hedgehogs, though characters like Rouge the Bat and even Blaze the Cat are sometimes also popular options. Shadow is the one most often theorized to be related to him, since they have some similar powers and quills designs.

His most popular pairing is with Blaze the Cat, known as Silvaze. with other popular pairings being him with Sonic (Sonilver) and Shadow (Shadilver). The pairing of him with Espio the Charmeleon, known as Espilver, also became very popular after them being teammates in Sonic Rivals 2.
