Shorelines and Sandcastles is a zine dedicated to the pairing RiKai (Riku/Kairi) from the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

Interest checks opened on November 2, 2020, and were expected to end on November 16, 2020. This deadline was later extended to the end of the month. Applications for artists and writers opened from March 6, 2021, to April 3, 2021. A total of 57 artists and 17 writers were reported to have applied to the zine. Acceptance emails were sent out on April 10, 2021.

Preorders opened on August 13, 2021, with the following pricing tiers:

• Seaglass ($9 USD) - Digital Zine, Emojis, Icons, Twitter Banner, Cover Art Wallpaper
• Rockpools ($18 USD) - Physical Zine
• The Beach ($23 USD) - Physical Zine, Sticker Sheet, Mini Print
• High Tide ($30 USD, Limited to 35) - Physical Zine, Sticker Sheet, Mini Print, Acrylic Charm, Standee

The "High Tide" bundle was sold out within the same day preorders began, and it was restocked with another 35 copies on August 13, 2021. A giveaway for a full bundle was run from September 1 to September 5, 2021. The winner of the giveaway was Twitter user Fenthefox. Preorders closed on October 1, 2021.

Shipping began approximately after December 17, 2021, according to a shipping update. By December 20, 2021, all physical orders had been shipped. Digital bundles were sent out on January 3, 2022.

Leftover sales opened on January 14, 2022. The project's digital storefront closed on February 15, 2022.
