Reactions and Reviews

The reason the second half of the pairing is withheld is for story purposes. Rachel says, and I think she's right, that it would ruin certain aspects of the story so I'm going to avoid as much as possible admitting who the woman in the story is. I will say it's het and as Rachel herself said. It's someone who isn't Scully. I remember when this story first came out, I was absolutely bowled over by it. To my recollection it is the first story of Rachel's I ever read and the rich detail and spot on characterizations amazed me. The story absolutely engrosses and pulls you in. It's a scenario you wouldn't but works like absolute gold.[1]

Why This Must Be Read: Because Rachel took a pairing that, as far as I know of, no one else ever even thought of, and made it work. Shouldn't that be answer enough? *g* [2]

John Doggett catches a beautiful woman breaking into his house on New Year's Eve, a woman who knows way more about him than he's comfortable with, but some instinct makes him trust her anyway. It's a pairing that, to my knowledge, no one else ever even dared, but Rachel made it work because her character's voices never faltered for a second.[3]
