Summary
From a distributor, Agent With Style:
Holding a member of Kolya's strike force prisoner was always going to be... complicated. When John Sheppard tries to win Sora's trust in order to gain valuable intelligence that will help in the search for a ZPM, he has to decide whether he can return that trust enough to make use of what she tells him. Written by SGAFan, with a beautiful color cover by mdzortman, this novel asks the question: Is Sora really trying to help John -- or is she bent on avenging her father's death by destroying Atlantis?

Set in the back half of season 1. [1]
Author's Comments
I was surprised that War and Peace ended up playing such a big role but as I got into the story, the parallels between Tolstoy's views and the Genii were striking to me and what started as "oh, Shep will give her the book for something to do" turned into a major part of the storyline and winning her over. :)
As for the end, when the story progressed and John started winning her over, I started thinking "what kind of repercussions will this have on the Genii when she goes back?" Mostly because I needed to think of canon and stay within those boundaries, even with her "transformation". In other words, the Genii couldn't just all the sudden all become pacifists or hard and fast allies to Atlantis. That wouldn't fit canon.
Then I thought about (and watched Coup d' Etat and it struck me that her and Ladon seemed to be at least acquaintances in The Eye. With what she was realizing about her own government, in this story, it didn't seem too much of a stretch that she'd have a hand in the change of power. Ladon seemed much more level headed and willing to be allies (guardedly of course) with Atlantis. It stood to reason that something or someone helped shape his change in perspective.
I love to write missing scene stories so that scene at the end was just right up my alley. I loved tying the events of CdE to the story, just as I had tied other eps in season 1 to the story as well, which was a lot of fun. I love filling in the blanks and adding dimension to what's already there. :) [2]
