Sensorscans is a club zine for the Star Trek fan club, U.S.S. Gallant which was a chapter of Starfleet.
It was published six times a year, and then four times a year. This change was addressed in the first quarter 1988 issue (v.2 n.5):
As you've probably noticed, this was delivered extremely late. We're terribly sorry for that, but there have been some changes around the offices here that you should know about.
First of all is that for a brief time we will not be publishing on a bi-monthly basis like we used to. starting with this issue we will only be going to print quarterly . We should resume bi-monthly status with the July/August issue. The reason for this change is a problem that has plagued us for a long time, a problem that we have repeatedly asked for your help on. Lack of material. So the only person to blame for this is yourself. Because of this problem, we here at SENSORSCANS thought to ourselves, "Why bother? " and just let it lie around undone.
We hope to soon correct this problem and get everything back on track. Next month will be our 2nd Anniversary issue, and we'll be printing some of them in color.
About
Mark S. Vaughan was the club president. He addressed the club in the May/June 1987 issue:
From the Captain's Chair by Cmdr Mark S. Vaughan:Since this is the first anniversary issue of SENSORSCANS, it seems appropriate that I make a statement by way of dedication.
First of all, I am extremely pleased with tho progress the editor, LtCmdr Paul Ramos, and his staff have made over tho past year. These people, to the best of my knowledge, had little or no experience in publishing a magazine. But with a years worth of hard work and sincere effort, SENSORSCANS has become one of the best club zines I've ever seen (okay. I'll admit to some personal bias on my part!).
Overall, I feel that the content and quality of this magazine is well worth the effort and worthy of our full support as a chapter. The editor is constantly in need of new material - Articles, Stories, Songs, Poetry, Trivia, Want-ads, etc. - ANYTHING as long as it's related to STAR TREK, Sci-Fi, or this chapter and is within the limits of good taste. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions about SENSORSCANS, please feel free to contact LtCmdr Ramos or me.

Welcome to Sensorscans, the bi-monthly publication of the USS GALLANT. This is my first issue as editor of this publication, and I hope you will enjoy reading this issue as much as I have had creating it. Well on to the nuts and bolts. This is the 4th Anniversary issue, and in keeping with a theme of the best of the old and the new, I have included some stories that I have dusted off from the archives as well as some stuff hot off the presses. I hope that you enjoy this issue of SENSORSCANS, if there is any suggestions that you wish to make, feel free to drop a note my way.
