A scrapbook is method of preserving memorabilia (such as photos, articles, and memories) by pasting them into an album of blank pages. Such compilations are made personally, not professionally, and hence are highly individualized.
In a fannish context, the subject of a scrapbook is a TV show, movie, band, sports team, or the like; and the contents are chosen by the fan creating the scrapbook. The compiling of scrapbooks reflects the fannish desire to both collect every 'scrap' of information about their fannish obsession as well as preserve those fannish memories.
In the digital age, scrapbooks have become less popular as fannish life migrated online; scrapbooks were mainly popular in the 1960s through the 1990s.
scrapbooks were not limited to just one TV show. In the upper right is a photo of Leonard Nimoy in a non-Star Trek role. To the left is the fan's 1973 membership card in the Star Trek S.T.A.R. fan club
