Science Fantasy is a genre of fiction characterised by a strong overlap between science fiction and fantasy, using tropes from both genres. Whereas sci-fi usually tries to be scientifically sound in its speculative concepts, and fantasy tends to be much less 'realistic', often incorporating ideas such as magic, science fantasy is a mix of the two, often incorporating seemingly magical or supernatural elements through futuristic or technological means.
The boundaries between the three genres are often blurry, and no set or strict definition truly differentiates them easily. Some of the texts often argued to be science fantasy include Doctor Who and Star Wars.
