The dust on the floor

Piled up from the years

All those scars and souvenirs...

Quote from the start of Chapter 1

Summary

Six months after her messy break-up with Cat, Kara is back in National City for James and Lucy's wedding. Old feelings that never really died come rushing back to the surface, but is it too late for the two of them to try and pick up the pieces of what they once had and try to put it back together again?[1]

Reactions and Reviews

It is over. I was not ready. D: But wow, what a beautiful ending!!!

I loved that you had Kara bring Cat to her apartment in Metropolis, because it helped to mend more of their wounds and allowed for Kara's last memories of that dark, painful place to be filled with light and happiness. I loved the sting in my heart when Cat discovered Kara's paintings of her, a sharp visualisation of how much Kara was hurting, how they were both hurting while they were apart.

I loved the tenderness of Kara's charcoal hands on Cat's skin, the vulnerability of Cat when she admitted to worries about her ageing, and repeatedly, while reading this, I had to glance at the ever shrinking scrollbar, gripping at my mouse, because I was not ready to say goodbye.

These two are so safe in your hands. I know that the first half of this story was full of angst, and I cried so much when I read it, but still, Cat and Kara were safe, because you treated them like real people. There was nothing unrealistic or out of character, every sentence they spoke rang true. Your writing is so refreshingly free. You create without overly fancy decorations, and yet everything is full of beauty. You refrain from cheap sensationalism, and yet you most definitely make a lasting impression. I don't know if that takes skill, or whether it is simply a result of honest writing. Perhaps it is a combination of both. Whatever it may be, I greatly appreciate you sharing it!

I said this before, but I will say it again: This story is my favourite in the whole fandom, and that is not for a lack of good authors. I am so excited to hear that you are writing something new, and I will definitely read anything you share with us in the future!

Thank you so much for writing this. It was an absolute pleasure to read!![2]

This was fantastic! Super angst and moody and also romantic and with an epic love story ending. It has great character representation, everyone’s voices are spot on. Plus good sister moments between Alex and Kara. Hot bed scenes with Cat and Kara. I love the one with the charcoal. I’m really looking forward to whatever you write next. [3] }}

While this is a relatively new fandom, there are some very good writers within it. For me, this story stands out because it takes this couple and gives them such depth. This one is an attention grabber. It wrapped around my heart. I was laughing and crying with it. There were even times I was screaming at the computer. The angst is fine tuned but not overpowering.
