Sakurayashiki Kaoru, known as Cherry Blossom at S, is a major character in SK8 the Infinity.

In Canon

When Kaoru was a teenager, he was friends with Nanjo Kojiro (Joe) and Shindo Ainosuke (Adam). Together, they founded S, an illegal skating racetrack. However, Ainosuke left for America with little warning. Kaoru became a calligrapher but continued to skate in his free time, building an AI skateboard named Carla to help him execute precise moves. He and Joe bicker constantly but remain close friends.

In Fandom

Kaoru is roughly tied with Kojiro as the most-tagged character in the Sk8 tag on Ao3, with over 8,630 works as of January 2025. Popular headcanons which show up in fan works include Kaoru having severe anxiety, having a very thorough haircare routine, being somewhat distant from his family, having a hard time sharing his emotions, and being gay.

He is most frequently shipped with Kojiro. Many fans believe it was intentionally hinted that he had had a crush on Adam when they were teenagers, and it is a popular headcanon that they are exes and that Adam's sudden departure was partially responsible for Kaoru closing himself off and establishing a proper façade.

Because of his pink hair, "Bubblegum Bitch" by MARINA is a popular choice for Cherry vids.
